Understanding Design Principles


Balance/Contrast

  • There is balance is the colours used, there are two main colours black and white.
  • The picture in the middle is balanced with the title of the album and the name of the band in two black strips one on top and one on bottom. 
  • The most noticeable (largest) person is set on the right of the cover with two other people balancing it out on the other side. 
Rhythm/Repetition (Movement/Pattern)

  • They have a very simple pattern on this cover, there is a pattern between the white and black with two clear illustrations of white space in the middle and off to the left side.
  • Another pattern is that it is framed by a black frame at the top and bottom of the cover. 
  • Also there are multiple small visuals in this album cover to balance the features on the people. 
Emphasis/Alignment

  • There is a lot of emphasis on the words on this cover, they are clearly seen on this album. The words are put off by themselves with a black background and white lettering. 
  • The guitar is also emphasized because of the placement of it and the colours used, it is an off white colour with a dark black hand which draws your attention straight to that. 
Unity/Proximity

  • They only used one font for both pieces of text to create unity between the two words because it is the band name along with the title of the album.  
  • This also sticks to one colour palette throughout the whole cover.
  • They repeat the same colour throughout the design to create unity, but also to create proximity and make things seem "smushed" together in a way.

Explanation of sound effects to be created and plan of action

The four sounds that I think I am going to be making is, footsteps, something falling, a car revving, and a door shutting. I picked these sounds because I thought that it would be kinda easy to create these sounds and they were also something I thought would be cool to make sound effects for. How I plan on doing the footsteps is, i'm going to do it inside just so the wind and cars driving by don't affect how my sound comes out. Storyboards: Which storyboards do you like?

https://www.sampletemplates.com/business-templates/free-storyboard-templates.html            I chose this template because I think this one looks the most organized out of all the ones I saw, and I think you could see the bigger picture of whatever you draw/write because you can see everything side by side. I like the style of this template and how it goes across the page instead of down. I like having six on only one page instead of just three on one page. Understanding Copyright

     The first situation I chose is with an artistic piece, like a painting, photograph etc. The work is also from a copy right protected work, and it is being used for an educational purpose! If you were to hand it out in a class hand out you may use the whole thing, you can copy the entire work! That is permitted under fair dealing.       The second Situation I chose is if you are reading a book in a class, and the teacher is giving it out as a part of a course pack they are aloud to copy only 10% of the novel or a full chapter! This is also under fair dealing.    The third situation I chose is an article from a periodical, if you are using it for an educational purpose and you chose to put it into a learning management system, you can legally copy up to a full article from each issue of a periodical for solely the purpose of education. This again is under the fair dealing guidelines!
