Rule Of Thirds :  Imagine that your image is divided into 9 equal segments by 2 vertical and 2 horizontal lines. The rule of thirds says that you should position the most important elements in your scene along these lines, or at the points where they intersect. Doing so will add balance and interest to your photo. Some cameras even offer an option to superimpose a rule of thirds grid over the LCD screen, making it even easier to use. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Rule_of_thirds_photo.jpg Leading Lines :   When we look at a photo our eye is naturally drawn along lines. By thinking about how you place these leading lines in your composition, you can affect the way we view the image, pulling us into the picture, towards the subject, or on a journey "through" the scene. https://pixabay.com/en/railway-leading-lines-road-1666919/ Framing :  The world is full of objects which make perfect natural frames, such as trees, archways and holes. What is public domain and creative commons

Image
For the creative commons website the first thing you even see on the site is two options for what you want to find on the site, "I want something I can use for commercial purpose;  modify, adapts, or build upon."  One critique I do have for this website is that it has a bunch of different sites on the front page, but you can't click on them and creative commons site does not take you to those sites unless you type something into the search bar. Which is kind of odd to me, but if it works I don't mind how they chose to make the layout etc.                     Another site that I looked at was freesound.org, I personally think that this site is good because of the fact that you can get lots of different original sounds. Plus this website makes it so easy to get sounds onto your videos, pictures etc. It is always so difficult to get sounds for good editing on imovie on the macbook, but I found with this site, it took half the time and was way easier to work wi

Fair dealing and copyright in Canada

There is eight different fair dealing purposes that does not infringe copyright, so you can use something copyrighted without getting in trouble for it depending on how you are using it and how much of it you use. Copy right is very important to protect someones work, yet there has to be ways that people can use certain works that are copy right without getting in trouble. I think that the way it is set up now is perfect, because people can use copy right novels, art work etc for educational purposes,  if they are working on a book report they can include some of the actual novel to quote it etc. Copy right is important, but if there wasn't ways that people could still use copy righted works a lot of great things wouldn't be known today. Being able to use copy righted works, also helps promote novels, art work, research papers etc!       Say if a student was working on a certain novel in class, and the teacher was using it for educational purposes the teacher would be

Understanding Copyright

The first situation I chose is with an artistic piece, like a painting, photograph etc. The work is also from a copy right protected work, and it is being used for an educational purpose! If you were to hand it out in a class hand out you may use the whole thing, you can copy the entire work! That is permitted under fair dealing.       The second Situation I chose is if you are reading a book in a class, and the teacher is giving it out as a part of a course pack they are aloud to copy only 10% of the novel or a full chapter! This is also under fair dealing.    The third situation I chose is an article from a periodical, if you are using it for an educational purpose and you chose to put it into a learning management system, you can legally copy up to a full article from each issue of a periodical for solely the purpose of education. This again is under the fair dealing guidelines!
