Magazine Cover Assignment

Balance/Contrast

  • On the top of the page there is the title of the magazine "Food Daily" it is balanced in the middle and all the other text on the cover are closely underneath it.
  • There is contrast between the two different pictures on this cover, the first photo is the background with the bowls and spoons and then there is a picture of soup in a bowl.
  • The most noticeable (largest) image is off the right of the cover which is the picture with the three different bowls and the spoons. That is balanced out by the other image on the other side.
Rhythm/Repetition

  • This cover has a very simple pattern, the background is wood like a picnic table with the wood running horizontal.
  • There is repetition with all the bowls on the magazine cover and the separate picture of another bowl in the left top corner.
  • There is rhythm in how all of the words are set up on the cover, they are all placed nicely to the left side of the magazine cover.
Emphasis/Alignment

  • There is the most emphasis on the title of the magazine cover, which is " Food Daily", because of the colour of the words and the size of them. I wanted them to stand out.
  • This also sticks to one theme, there are a lot of bowls on the magazine cover all over. There are three on the right side along with another one of the left top corner. So all of the pictures kind of align with each other.
  • There is also a lot of emphasis on the wood background because of how noticeable it is on the cover.
  • There is multiple different fonts on this cover, which creates emphasis on certain words and sentences.
Unity/Proximity

  •   Three out of the four bowls are placed closely together on the right side of the magazine cover, which creates unity between the three, and that is also proximity!
  • There is also proximity with all the words on the cover, they are all placed on the top left corner. This also creates unity between all the words as well.
